The Rhône Valley
The Côtes du Rhône wines have a longer history than many other French wine-growing areas. The Ancient Greeks used the Rhône to travel into the heart of Gaul to carry out trade. From the first century onwards, the area was at the forefront of commercial wine production, thanks to the Romans.
Within the last fifteen years the quality of Rhône Wines has been improving constantly thanks to the personal commitment of a number of leading wine- makers.
Today these rank among the top international producers and have become serious competitors to the Burgundy and Bordeaux Wines.
